Job summary

Cart.com is seeking a Merchant of Record (MoR) Accountant to own end-to-end MoR accounting operations. You will ensure integrity of payment processing, settlements, tax compliance, and reconciliations across MoR brands in a fast-paced ecommerce environment.

The role demands attention to detail, strong accounting fundamentals, and experience with payments operations. Candidates should be comfortable navigating ambiguity while maintaining robust controls and scalable processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
• 3–7 years of experience in payments operations, merchant services, accounting, or related field in e-commerce, SaaS, digital goods, marketplace, or technology-enabled services.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience analyzing large datasets.
• Working knowledge of SQL and reporting or analytics tools.

Responsibilities

• Own the accounting and operational oversight of Merchant of Record activities across supported brands.
• Review, validate, and approve high-value transactions and settlements in accordance with established thresholds and internal controls.
• Monitor and resolve urgent payment exceptions, including settlement failures, payment holds, chargebacks, and refunds.
• Maintain rigorous transaction-level review processes to minimize errors and ensure financial accuracy.
• Serve as the primary liaison for payment processing, settlements, reconciliations, tax compliance, and financial reporting related to MoR operations.
