Job summary

Cart.com, Inc. is seeking a highly detailed Merchant of Record Accountant to own MoR accounting operations across supported brands.

You will ensure accuracy in payment processing, settlements, tax compliance, and financial reconciliations while maintaining robust internal controls in a fast-paced ecommerce environment. This role partners with payment vendors, finance, and operations to scale processes and prevent revenue leakage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
• 3–7 years of experience in payments operations, merchant services, accounting, finance, or related field in e-commerce, SaaS, or technology-enabled services.
• Strong understanding of payment processing, settlements, merchant accounts, and financial controls.
• Hands-on experience with reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close support.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience analyzing large datasets.
• Working knowledge of SQL and reporting/analytics tools.

Responsibilities

• Own the accounting and operational oversight of Merchant of Record activities across supported brands.
• Review, validate, and approve high-value transactions and settlements per thresholds and controls.
• Monitor and resolve urgent payment exceptions including settlement failures, holds, chargebacks, and refunds.
• Perform reconciliations between payment platforms, banking activity, operational systems, and the general ledger; document root cause and resolution.
• Support month-end close activities and reporting; contribute to process improvements and automation.
