Job summary

Cart.com is seeking an experienced Merchant of Record Accountant to own MoR accounting operations across our brands. You will ensure accurate payment processing, settlements, tax compliance, and financial controls in a fast-growing ecommerce environment.

The role demands meticulous attention to detail, strong accounting fundamentals, and hands-on experience with payments platforms. You’ll partner with finance, product, and operations to scale processes while maintaining robust controls,

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
3–7 years of experience in payments operations, merchant services, or related fields.
Strong understanding of payment processing, settlements, and financial controls.

Responsibilities

Own the accounting and operational oversight of Merchant of Record activities across supported brands.
Review, validate, and approve high-value transactions and settlements per thresholds.
Monitor and resolve payment exceptions, including settlement failures, holds, and chargebacks.
Maintain transaction-level reviews to minimize errors and revenue leakage.
Liaise for payment processing, settlements, reconciliations, and tax reporting.
Perform reconciliations between payment platforms, banking, and GL; support month-end close.
Improve control processes and identify opportunities for automation.
