Job summary

Cox Fleet is seeking a Mobile Diesel & Trailer Technician to perform licensed DOT inspections, preventive maintenance, and light mechanical repairs in a mobile/field environment. You will diagnose electrical, brake, and engine systems on trucks and trailers, manage parts on a service truck, and ensure compliance with DOT and safety policies.

Qualified candidates have a HS diploma or GED, ASE/DOT experience, and a clean driving record; 21+ years old.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and 3 years in a related field, or 5 years of related experience.
• Possess and provide a suitable set of hand tools.
• Obtain ASE certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
• Must complete DOT pre-employment background screening and DOT physical.
• DOT medical card with >4 months remaining, or plan for a DOT physical if not.
• At least 21 years old due to interstate regulations.
• Valid state driver’s license and ability to obtain/maintain a Driver Qualification File.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled PMs, DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light to heavy-duty vehicles in mobile/field settings.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, braking, cooling, engine, and hydraulic systems on trucks and trailers.
• Diagnose and repair trailer equipment, including brakes, air lines, pumps, and liftgates.
• Maintain safety, compliance with OSHA, EPA, and DOT policies, and document work in the Repair Orders system.
• Manage parts inventory on service trucks and coordinate with management for approvals.
