Job summary

Cox Automotive's Cox Fleet is seeking a Mobile Diesel Technician II to perform DOT inspections, preventive maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on a range of trucks in a field setting.

You will work in a mobile service model, diagnosing problems, replacing parts, and keeping vehicles safe and operational while adhering to safety, OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations. Strong customer communication and efficient field service are essential.

Qualifications

• Perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, diagnostics and repairs.
• ASE certifications: ASE T6 (Electrical/Electronic Systems) and ASE T8 (PMI) within 18 months; maintain DOT medical card as applicable.
• Current DOT medical card or eligibility with DOT physical required if expiration approaches.
• Ability to determine the tools and equipment needed for various truck diesel systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and DOT inspections on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in field settings.
• Diagnose, adjust and repair electrical, braking, cooling and engine systems.
• Diagnose malfunctions using handheld devices, test instruments and gauges.
• Maintain and reconcile inventory on the service truck and manage parts.
• Document work performed and RO details via company systems.
• Communicate with management to obtain approvals on estimates and purchase orders.
• Ensure safety and regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
• Take the service truck home and participate in ongoing technical training.
