Job summary

Cox Fleet is seeking a Mobile Diesel Technician II to perform DOT inspections, preventive maintenance and repairs on a mobile/field basis. You’ll work a schedule that supports on-road service and meet safety and documentation standards.

Expect to handle light to heavy-duty trucks with various systems, manage parts and use TRAIT app for RO documentation. The role emphasizes independence, safety, and customer communication in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; related discipline acceptable.
• ASE certifications preferred, including PMI (T8) within 18 months.
• DOT/FMCSA regulations knowledge and DOT pre-employment checks.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled PMs, DOT inspections, and repairs in mobile/field settings.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, braking, cooling, and engine systems on trucks.
• Road test vehicles to verify repairs and ensure proper operation.
• Inspect, test, and listen for malfunctions using appropriate tools.
• Independently manage parts inventory and service truck equipment.
• Document work on RO via iOS device and TRAIT app; run pre/post-trip checks.
• Obtain parts from approved vendors and communicate repair estimates.
• Follow safety, health, and DOT regulations; maintain productivity.
