Job summary

Cox Fleet is seeking a Mobile Diesel Technician I to perform DOT inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs in a mobile/field setting. The role requires working with various truck systems and equipment, maintaining service truck operations, and ensuring compliance with DOT regulations.

Ideal candidates have a HS diploma or GED with 3–5 years of related experience, hands-on tool proficiency, and the ability to work independently on the road.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ related field experience (or 5 years’ related field experience).
• At least 3 years of experience with refrigerated equipment.
• Must possess and supply a set of hand tools.
• DOT/FMCSA regulatory pre-employment background check and DOT physical required.
• DOT medical card acceptable if remaining >4 months.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
• Diagnose, adjust, and repair electrical, braking, cooling, engine electronics, and drive systems on trucks.
• Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment and diagnose malfunctions using test instruments.
• Road test vehicles to ensure proper operation and identify faults.
• Manage parts inventory on service truck and document work performed with RO in TRAIT app.
• Complete DOT forms and related documentation in a timely fashion.
• Maintain safety checks and daily pre-/post-trip inspections of vehicle and service truck.
