Job summary

Cox Fleet, a Cox Automotive company, is seeking a Mobile Diesel Technician II- DOT to perform licensed DOT inspections, preventive maintenance, diagnostics and repairs for light to heavy-duty trucks at customer sites.

You will operate a company-issued service truck, manage parts, document work, and ensure compliance with DOT/FMCSA standards while delivering a positive field service experience. Mon–Fri schedule with a take-home vehicle is provided.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED or higher, with relevant field experience
• Must have personal set of hand tools
• Ability to obtain ASE T8 (PMI) within 18 months
• DOT pre-employment background screening and DOT physical required
• DOT medical card acceptable if valid
• 21+ years old with valid driver’s license
• Strong organizational, problem‑solving and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and DOT inspections
• Diagnose and repair diesel/heavy-duty truck systems
• Use tools and diagnostic equipment to inspect and troubleshoot
• Road-test vehicles to verify repairs and safety
• Maintain company-issued service truck and manage parts
• Document work and DOT forms accurately in handheld device
• Obtain parts from local and national vendors as needed
• Communicate with management for approvals and RO findings
