Job summary

Cox Automotive, a leading provider of mobile fleet maintenance, seeks a Mobile Diesel Technician II- DOT to service light, medium and heavy-duty fleets at customer sites. You will perform DOT inspections, scheduled maintenance, diagnostics and repairs, delivering safe, reliable service with an assigned service vehicle and a structured daily schedule.

The role emphasizes independent field work, strict DOT compliance, and customer-focused communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 3 years of related experience, or higher education with at least 1 year of related work experience, or 5 years of related work experience without a degree.
• Must possess personal hand tools.
• Ability to obtain ASE certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months of employment.
• DOT/FMCSA pre-employment background screening and DOT physical required.
• DOT medical card valid for more than four months or willing to complete DOT physical.
• Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate commerce rules.
• Must hold a valid state driver’s license and be able to maintain Driver Qualification File.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide mobile service and maintenance support for light, medium and heavy‑duty vehicles.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and DOT inspections, plus follow-up repairs.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, braking, cooling, engine and other truck systems.
• Road test vehicles to verify repairs and ensure safe operation.
• Maintain and operate a company service truck and telematics unit; manage parts and inventory.
• Document completed work and DOT forms accurately and on time.
• Obtain parts from approved vendors and discuss repair estimates with management.
• Follow safety, health, environmental policies and DOT regulations.
