Qualifications

• Six (6) months of general experience.
• Six (6) months of specialized experience performing technical medical laboratory support work such as performing laboratory tests and examinations and preparing reports of findings.
• Completion of an associate degree program including training in a certified laboratory assistant program.
• One year of study with chemistry/biological sciences plus completion of a full-time medical or clinical laboratory assistant/technician training program.
• Two years of study with chemistry/biological sciences related to the position.
• A combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing in chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, serology, and blood banking.
• Evaluate test results and troubleshoot to ensure accuracy.
• Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Collect and process patient specimens, accession and track in LIS, and prepare specimens for referral testing.
• Validate and document laboratory results and support quality assurance and accreditation efforts.
