Qualifications

• Six months of general experience required.
• Six months of specialized experience performing technical medical laboratory support work such as performing laboratory tests and examinations and preparing reports of findings.
• Completion of an associate degree program including one year of certified laboratory assistant training.
• One year of study with chemistry/biological sciences plus a year-long medical/clinical laboratory training program.
• Two years of study with chemistry/biological sciences directly related to the position.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical laboratory tests in chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, serology, and blood banking.
• Evaluate test results and troubleshoot or repeat procedures to ensure accuracy.
• Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment; prepare reagents and culture media; monitor QC activities.
• Collect and process patient specimens and track specimens in lab systems.
• Validate and document laboratory results and communicate to healthcare providers; support quality assurance and safety compliance.

Education

Associate degree with one year certified lab assistant training

One year of chemistry/biology study plus lab training program

Two years of chemistry/biology study related to the position
