Job summary

The Indian Health Service is seeking a Medical Technician (Laboratory Support) to perform clinical tests across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, serology, and blood banking. You will collect and process specimens, evaluate acceptance, and help ensure accurate results for patient care in American Indian communities.

You will operate and maintain laboratory instruments, prepare reagents, monitor quality control, document results, and communicate findings to healthcare

Qualifications

• Six months general experience in a related field.
• Six months of specialized medical laboratory support experience.
• Education options include an associate degree or related coursework.
• Completion of a lab assistant program or equivalent training.
• Combination of education and experience allowed.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical tests across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, serology, and blood banking.
• Evaluate results, troubleshoot, and ensure accurate laboratory findings.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain instruments; prepare reagents and media; monitor QC.
• Collect and process specimens; track in LIS and prepare for referral testing.
• Validate results and communicate with providers; support CAP/CLIA compliance.
