Job summary

Indian Health Service is seeking a Medical Technician (Laboratory Support) to perform a broad range of clinical laboratory tasks in chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, serology, immunology and blood banking. You will evaluate test results, troubleshoot when needed, and ensure accuracy and quality across all procedures.

The role requires adherence to CLIA and CAP standards, processing specimens, and maintaining laboratory equipment while supporting safety and accreditation activities

Qualifications

• Six months general experience demonstrated in résumé.
• Six months specialized experience performing technical medical laboratory support work.
• Associate degree program with second-year certified lab assistant training.
• One year of study with chemistry/biological sciences plus certified lab training.
• Two years of study with chemistry/biological sciences related to the position.
• A combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, serology, and blood banking.
• Evaluate test results and troubleshoot to ensure accurate lab results.
• Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain lab instruments; prepare reagents, stains, media; monitor QC.
• Collect and process specimens; accession and track in lab systems; prepare for referrals.
• Support quality assurance and compliance per CAP/CLIA and safety requirements.
