Qualifications

• Six months general experience.
• Six months specialized experience in technical medical laboratory support.
• Education options: associate degree with one year of certified training in a lab program.
• One year of study with chemistry/biological sciences plus a year-long medical/clinical lab program.
• Two years of study with 12 semester hours in chemistry/biology related to the position.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical laboratory tests in chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, serology, and blood banking, including unusual specimens.
• Evaluate test results and troubleshoot to ensure accuracy.
• Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instruments; prepare reagents and culture media; monitor quality control.
• Collect and process patient specimens; assess specimen acceptability and track in LIS; prepare specimens for referral testing.
• Validate and document results; communicate findings to healthcare providers; support CAP/CLIA compliance.
