Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates preferred.
• Must obtain and maintain a current certification in BLS.
• 1-3 years prior medical office experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical coding and billing; familiarity with HIPAA is essential.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients in a polite, prompt, and helpful manner and informs on delays.
• Obtains registration data, insurance information, and photo ID at encounters.
• Enter patient data into the computer system accurately.
• Verifies insurance and collects co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles.
• Adheres to HIPAA guidelines and maintains confidentiality of patient/staff/physician information.
• Balances daily charges and safeguards money received.
• Manages patient charts, referrals, and sharing information with other medical entities as needed.
• Assists staff with scheduling/provider referrals and lobby maintenance.
