Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a dedicated Medical Record Coder to review and code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM/CPT, ensuring accurate clinical documentation and coding accuracy.

You will abstract data elements, support statistical requests, and help manage unbilled coding reports to improve cash flow while staying current with coding guidelines. Strong teamwork and data-entry skills are required.

Qualifications

• High School/GED required.
• Completed coding courses in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
• 1 year of hospital/physician coding experience.
• 1 year coding at mid-level facilities or clinics.
• 1 year coding major surgeries, observations and/or E/Ms.
• Medical Terminology
• Strong data entry skills
• Understanding of computer applications
• Ability to work with members of the health care team
• RHIT, RHIA, CCS-P, CPC, COC or CPC-A certifications

Responsibilities

• Reviews and interprets medical information to determine ICD-10 CM/CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Abstracts data elements and enters coded information into designated system.
• Manages unbilled coding report to support cash flow.
• Keeps updated on ICD-10 CM/CPT guidelines through training and resources.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
