Qualifications

• High School diploma and completion of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology coding courses.
• 1 year hospital/physician coding experience; 1 year coding at mid-level facilities or clinics.
• Familiar with ICD-10 CM and CPT coding guidelines; HIPAA compliance knowledge.
• Strong data entry and ability to work with health care team.
• Certifications such as RHIT/RHIA/CCS-P/CPC/COC/CPC-A preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and interprets medical information to assign ICD-10 CM/CPT codes.
• Abstracts data elements for statistical requests and enters data into designated system.
• Manages unbilled coding reports to support cash flow.
• Keeps updated on ICD-10 CM/CPT changes through training and resources.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
