Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Medical Records Coder to perform thorough review of medical records, assign accurate ICD-10-CM/ CPT codes, and abstract data for statistical requests. You will manage unbilled coding reports and stay current with ICD-10-CM/CPT guidelines.

Qualified candidates have 1 year of hospital/physician coding, completion of coding courses, and RHIT/RHIA/CPC/CPC-A/CCS-P credentials are a plus.

Qualifications

• High School/GED required.
• Successful completion of coding courses in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
• 1 year of Hospital and/or Physician Coding.
• 1 year coding at mid-level facilities or clinics.
• 1 year coding major surgeries, observations and/or E/Ms.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and interprets medical information to determine ICD-10 CM/CPT codes.
• Abstracts data elements to satisfy statistical requests and enters data.
• Implements ICD-10 CM/CPT guideline updates in daily work.
• Maintains unbilled coding reports to aid cash flow.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
