Key People, a privately held manufacturer of water and wastewater process equipment in Morris County, NJ, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer. The role emphasizes design for fabrication, not drafting, with much collaboration with the shop floor.

Qualified candidates have a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and 3–4 years of SolidWorks design experience. The position is 100% onsite, with a base salary of $75,000 to $90,000 and comprehensive medical premiums for employee and family.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• 3–4 years of mechanical design experience with SolidWorks or equivalent.
• Proficient in SolidWorks; capable of producing fabrication drawings.
• Accurate, detail-oriented drawing work and ability to communicate with fabrication team.
• Local to northern New Jersey and able to work fully onsite in Morris County; relocation not offered.

Responsibilities

• Design water and wastewater equipment in SolidWorks and generate fabrication drawings.
• Figure out how to build customer-required equipment, including new designs.
• Lead conveyor design workload from requirements through released drawings.
• Review plans with on-site fabricators and incorporate their feedback.
• Prepare drawings for outside fabricators with appropriate detail and tolerances.
• Support the project engineer on design needs for each order.
• Ensure designs fit and fabricate correctly on first build.
