Job summary

Talent Solutions Partners in Morris County, NJ is helping a privately held manufacturer of water and wastewater process equipment to add a Mechanical Design Engineer. The candidate should be a degreed Mechanical Engineer with about 3 to 4 years of SolidWorks design experience, and be comfortable working closely with fabrication on the shop floor.

The role centers on designing and drawing, with conveyors as a large portion of the workload.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• 3 or 4 years of mechanical design experience.
• Proficient in SolidWorks.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Local to northern New Jersey and able to work onsite in Morris County.
• Relocation assistance is not offered.
• Strongly preferred: experience designing conveyors or similar fabricated equipment.
• Water and wastewater background is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design water and wastewater equipment in SolidWorks and produce the fabrication drawings the shop builds from.
• Work out how to build what the customer needs, including equipment the company has not made before.
• Carry conveyor designs, the bulk of the workload, from requirements through released drawings.
• Visit the company's fabrication shop to review plans, check progress, and resolve build questions with the fabricators.
• Prepare drawings for outside fabricators, with the level of detail each one needs.
• Support the project engineer running each order with the design work that order requires.
• Get the details right before release, so equipment is built once and fits the first time.
