Job summary

Colonial Group in Chester, VA is seeking a First Line Supervisor to direct hourly staff and achieve production targets by enforcing standard work and safety procedures.

You will plan procedures, manage budgets per bargaining agreement, drive continuous improvement, lead problem solving, and coach team leaders to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity, and Cost goals; experience in union environments and SAP/Kronos is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a technical or related field preferred
• 2-5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, industrial, and/or chemical plant environment preferred
• Supervisory experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Supervise hourly employees to achieve assigned tasks
• Plan and administer procedures and budgets in compliance with collective bargaining agreement
• Lead and direct workforce in problem identification, solving, and implementing continuous improvement measures
• Engage team leaders and employees to improve department processes and performance
• Manage 10-20 employee department to achieve safety, quality, delivery, productivity and cost goals
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
• Interview, select, and train team leaders and employees
• Drive standard work and audit adherence
• Drive continuous improvement and waste elimination
• Communicate with shifts and peers on safety, quality, productivity and staffing
