Job summary

Ingersoll Rand Moody, AL seeks a skilled Manual Machinist for the 2nd shift to operate, set up and maintain large pump components with tight tolerances. You will read blueprints, select tools and apply correct speeds/feeds in a high-precision shop environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of machine setup and controls required.
• 3+ years machining experience as a machinist.
• 2+ years reading and interpreting blueprints.
• 1+ years operating King-style boring mills or VTLs.

Responsibilities

• Performs setups of large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump components and operates large vertical & horizontal lathes for repairs.
• Interprets blueprints to determine critical dimensions and uses precision tools.
• Able to maintain tolerances as low as .0005 inch when specified.
• Selects cutting tools and sets speeds/feeds for desired surface finish.
• Occasional overtime, weekends as needed.
• Operates forklift and overhead crane safely; follows EH&S & QMS.
• Lifts and rigs heavy components; assists in disassembly/reassembly and rebuilding.
• Cross-trains in fabrication, assembly and balancing as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
