Ingersoll Rand is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist for the 2nd shift at Moody, AL. The role involves setting up large machines, reading blueprints, and achieving tight tolerances with precise measurement tools.

Expect overtime and occasional weekend work as needed to repair and overhaul vacuum pumps and compressors. The position offers competitive hourly rates ($32–$35) with a $3.00 shift differential, plus a $1,000 retention bonus and relocation assistance.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a machine operator/Machinist.
• 2+ years reading and interpreting blueprints.
• 1+ years operating King-style boring mills or vertical turning lathes.

Responsibilities

• Performs set ups of large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump components and operations of large vertical & horizontal lathes used to repair and overhaul pumps & compressors.
• Interprets blueprints/drawings and uses precision measuring tools to verify critical dimensions.
• Maintains tight tolerances as specified, sometimes down to .0005 inch.
• Selects cutting tools and sets speeds and feeds for desired surface finish.
• Overtime may be required; occasionally weekends.
• Operates forklift and overhead crane safely; follows EH&S & QMS processes.
• Lifting and rigging heavy components; assists in disassembly/reassembly and repair.
• Cross-trains in fabrication, assembly, rotor balance, etc.
