Job summary

Ingersoll Rand in Moody, AL is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist for 2nd shift (Mon-Thu 8:00 PM–6:00 AM) with a $3.00 per hour shift differential and bonus eligibility. This role emphasizes precision, reliability, and teamwork in a on-site, heavy-machinery environment.

You will perform setups on large pump components, read blueprints, and use precision gauges and lathes. Relocation assistance and a $1,000 retention bonus are available to successful candidates.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a machine operator/Machinist.
• 2+ years reading and interpreting blueprints.
• 1+ year operating King-style boring mills and/or vertical turning lathes (VTLs).
• Familiar with depth gauges, bore gauges, micrometers, calipers and other precision tools.

Responsibilities

• Sets up large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump components and operates large Lathes to repair pumps.
• Interprets blueprints to determine critical dimensions and uses precision measuring tools.
• Maintains tight tolerances down to .0005 inch when required.
• Selects cutting tools and determines speeds and feeds for surface finish.
• Overtime as needed, including weekends.
• Safe forklift and overhead crane operation; follows EH&S & QMS processes.
• Lifts and rigs heavy components; assists disassembly and rebuilding of pumps.
• Cross-trains in fabrication, assembly, rotar balancing, etc.
