Job summary

Matlen Silver is seeking a Mainframe Production Support Engineer Consultant to provide front line technical support to end users across the U.S. on a 12-month contract, with extension possible to 18 months.

The role encompasses incident management, release/deployment, operational readiness, monitoring, and production governance, with hands-on work in COBOL/DB2/JCL and UNIX/Linux environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of production support experience with enterprise Mainframe technologies including COBOL, JCL, IMS DB/DC, DB2, BMC utilities, REXX, MarkIV, TWS, CA7, FILE MANAGER, TSO, or Endevor
• Hands on troubleshooting experience of UNIX/Linux servers and Relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server).
• Experience with SQL Database query language; Splunk and monitoring tools.

Responsibilities

• Provides monitoring and support for triaging Mainframe application problems and coordinating with various support teams across the organization including activities related to application incident and problem management.
• Performs root cause analysis and communicates with the line of business and management the overall status and health of the application throughout the support process.
• Looks for areas of improvement in monitoring, application stability, and speed of determining root cause.
• Performs troubleshooting, analysis, research and resolution using advanced query and scripting skills.
• Work closely with Technology Infrastructure Teams, Development & Testing Teams in supporting Integrated / Independent releases, software/hardware upgrades, server upgrades.
• Performs real-time restoration and triaging of issues impacting technical services (application/infrastructure) to customers and partners in a timely manner while keeping partners advised of significant progress or challenges during the restoration period.
• Assesses initial severity, gather impacts, creates tickets in Remedy, engages necessary support teams, and escalates as necessary to ensure timely restoration
• Participate in DR and Resiliency.

Matlen Silver is actively recruiting for a Mainframe Production Support Engineer Consultant to work for our client's Wealth Management team to provide front line technical support to end users throughout the U.S. This includes responding to issues related to Problem/Incident Management, Release/Deployment, Operational Readiness, Application Monitoring, Production Governance related to issues.

Desired Experience:

• 5+ years of production support experience working with enterprise Mainframe technologies including some of the following: COBOL, JCL, IMS DB/DC, DB2, BMC utilities, REXX, MarkIV, TWS, CA7, FILE MANAGER, TSO, or Endevor
• Hands on troubleshooting experience of UNIX/Linux servers and Relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server).
• Experience with SQL Database query language
• Splunk and other monitoring tool exposure.
• Experience in application support processes including incident management, release management, risk governance.
• Exposure to Middle and Front Office Operations in investment banking environment.
• Experience with Java, MuleSoft, APIs, and Distributed Systems nice to have.
