Job summary

Estes Express is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee a Service Center handling significant LTL operations across multiple shifts. You will lead a large team, drive performance, and ensure safe, on-time freight movement while maintaining strong customer relationships.

The role requires supervisory experience, strong communication, and the ability to manage in a fast-paced environment with a strong safety focus.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of all aspects of an LTL service center.
• Strong computer skills (AS/400 and MS Office a plus).
• Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.
• Must be willing to work ~50 hours per week and various shifts.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Lead, guide and direct employees to include setting goals, monitoring performance, providing coaching and development.
• Manage all Service Center operations, dock planning and set up schedules.
• Oversee hiring, training and terminations with proper paperwork and follow-up.
• Administer portions of the Service Center Business plan as set forth by management.
• Coordinate operations in the absence of the Service Center Manager.
• Enforce company policies, safety rules and government regulations.
• Meet KPI targets and ensure on-time pickup and delivery with accurate billing.
• Observe and direct loading of trucks for proper handling and freight distribution.
• Conduct safety training and post-accident interviews; implement corrective actions.
• Investigate customer complaints and develop solutions to prevent recurrence.
• Assign routes and coordinate drivers for pickup/delivery; maintain transport records.
• Maintain regular attendance and comply with all company policies.
