Job summary

Estes Express in Greenwood, AL seeks a Dock Supervisor to lead dock staff, set targets, monitor performance, coach and develop employees for an efficient LTL operation.

You will enforce safety rules, participate in hiring/terminations, manage schedules, and coordinate equipment movements with other supervisors. Customer communication by phone/fax/email and timely paperwork are essential. Regular attendance is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience in management, dispatch and dock; ideally in LTL trucking.
• Knowledge of local metropolitan area.
• Strong leadership including hiring, coaching and mentoring.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; interpersonal skills.
• Excellent planning and organization; problem solving ability.
• Proficient with AS/400 and MS Office.
• Willing to work 50 hours/week; nights/weekends; in varying weather.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check; authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Report to Operations Manager and lead dock employees to meet targets and KPI.
• Oversee dock planning, scheduling, and shift coverage.
• Enforce company policies, safety rules and procedures.
• Participate in hiring and termination decisions as needed.
• Administer portions of the Service Center plan as directed.
• Coordinate equipment movement (trailers/tractors) with supervision.
• Communicate with customers by phone, fax or email; ensure timely paperwork.
• Maintain regular attendance and perform other duties as assigned.
