Job summary

Estes-Express-Lines in the Tacoma area is seeking a hands-on Operations Supervisor to lead dock teams, set targets, monitor performance, and coach staff toward safe, efficient LTL operations.

You will manage scheduling, KPI achievement, equipment movement, and communications with customers while upholding company policies. A strong candidate has leadership experience in trucking, solid planning skills, and the ability to work weekends and varying shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's preferred.
• Thorough understanding of the LTL trucking industry.
• Prior management, dispatch and dock experience, preferably in LTL trucking.
• Knowledge of the local metropolitan area.
• Strong leadership: hire, coach, counsel, train, mentor and terminate.
• Team building and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.
• Excellent planning and organization skills.
• Good computer skills (AS/400 and MS Office a plus).
• Willing to work 50 hours/week on various shifts, including nights/weekends.
• Able to lift ~20 lbs. and work under time constraints.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Lead dock employees and direct operations; set targets and monitor performance.
• Enforce safety policies and company regulations; coaching and development.
• Participate in hiring and termination decisions.
• Administer portions of the Service Center Business plan as directed.
• Meet KPI targets and continuously improve efficiency and cost.
• Plan dock operations and set up schedules to maximize throughput.
• Coordinate equipment movement (trailers/tractors) with supervision.
• Communicate with customers by phone, fax or email; ensure timely updates.
• Oversee dock paperwork and ensure timely, accurate handling.
• Maintain regular attendance and flexibility for shift coverage.
