Job summary

Estes-Express-Lines is seeking an experienced Dock Supervisor to lead the dock team and ensure an efficient, safe LTL operation. You will plan dock activities, monitor performance, and coach staff to meet daily targets.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, or combination giving equivalent background; Bachelor degree preferred.
• Thorough understanding of the LTL trucking industry, basic paperwork flow preferred.
• Prior management, dispatch and dock experience required, preferably in LTL trucking.
• Knowledge of the local metropolitan area.
• Strong leadership skills including hiring, coaching, counseling, training, mentoring and termination.
• Team building and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.
• Strong planning and organizational abilities.
• Good computer skills (AS/400 & MS Office a plus).
• Strong work ethic and problem solving abilities.
• Willing to work 50 hours/week on average; ability to work nights/weekends and in various weather.
• Able to lift ~20 lbs and comply with policies; able to work independently or in a team.
• Capable of meeting deadlines under tight time constraints.
• Pass pre-employment drug screen, random drug/alcohol tests, and background check; authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Lead, guide and direct dock employees; set targets, monitor performance, coach, counsel and develop.
• Manage an efficient, clean and safe LTL operation including dock planning and scheduling.
• Enforce compliance with all company policies, safety rules and regulations.
• Participate in hiring and termination decisions.
• Administer parts of the Service Center Business plan as directed by the Service Center Manager.
• Meet KPIs and utilize company tools and processes daily.
• Review and revise schedules to increase efficiency and lower cost.
• Oversee equipment assignment and movement (trailers and tractors) with other supervisors/management.
• Communicate with customers by phone, fax or email; ensure timely paperwork handling.
• Attend regularly and perform other duties as assigned; adapt to business needs.
