Job summary

Estes-Express-Lines in West Sacramento, CA is seeking a Dock Supervisor to lead the dock team, coordinate schedules, and drive safe, efficient LTL operations. You will work under the Operations Manager to meet KPI targets, mentor staff, and ensure compliant procedures.

The role requires strong leadership, extensive dock/dispatch experience in LTL, excellent communication, and willingness to work 50 hours per week across various shifts, including weekends. Local knowledge is important for success.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor degree preferred
• Thorough understanding of the LTL trucking industry and related paperwork flow preferred
• Prior management, dispatch and dock experience required in LTL trucking
• Must know local metropolitan area and have strong leadership abilities
• Ability to hire, coach, counsel, train, mentor and terminate employees as needed
• Strong team-building and interpersonal skills
• Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills
• Strong planning and organizational skills
• Proficient with computers (AS/400 & MS Office a plus)
• Willingness to work 50 hours/week on all shifts, including nights/weekends
• Able to read and interpret written safety rules, procedures, and manuals
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
• Authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct dock employees, set targets, monitor performance, coach and develop staff
• Manage efficient LTL operations including dock planning and scheduling
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety rules, and government regulations
• Participate in hiring and termination processes
• Contribute to the Service Center Business plan under guidance of the Service Center Manager
• Meet all KPIs and manage daily use of enhancement tools and processes
• Review and revise schedules to increase efficiency and reduce costs
• Oversee equipment assignment and movement (trailers and tractors) with other supervisors/management
• Maintain clear communication with customers via phone, fax or email
• Ensure timely handling of all dock paperwork and related processes
• Maintain regular attendance and perform other duties as required by operational needs
