Job summary

Estes Express Lines in Tacoma, WA is seeking a qualified supervisor to lead dock staff and manage an efficient LTL operation.

You will plan schedules, monitor performance, coach and develop employees, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, and communicate with customers by phone, fax or email.

The role requires prior management, dispatch or dock experience, strong leadership and organization skills, and a willingness to work about 50 hours per week including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor degree preferred.
• Thorough understanding of LTL trucking; basic paperwork flow preferred.
• Prior management, dispatch and dock experience required, preferably in LTL trucking.
• Knowledge of local metropolitan area.
• Strong leadership skills including hiring, coaching, counseling, training, mentoring and termination.
• Team building and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.
• Excellent planning and organization skills.
• Good computer skills (AS/400 & MS Office a plus).
• Willing to work ~50 hours/week; ability to work nights/weekends and in various weather.

Responsibilities

• Lead, guide and direct dock employees; set targets, monitor performance, coach and develop.
• Manage efficient, clean and safe LTL operation; dock planning and schedules.
• Enforce company policies; safety rules and regulations.
• Involved in hiring and termination processes.
• Administer portions of the Service Center Business plan; report to manager.
• Meet KPI targets; utilize enhancement tools and processes daily.
• Review and revise schedules to increase efficiency and lower cost.
• Responsible for equipment movement (trailers/tractors) with other supervisors/management.
• Communicate with customers via phone, fax or email.
• Oversee dock paperwork; ensure timely and correct handling.
