Job summary

Swiss Re is seeking a sharp L&H underwriter to join a U.S. team, applying evidence-based risk selection and delivering exceptional client service. You’ll collaborate across cases—from medical to governance—while leveraging AI-enabled tools and staying current on underwriting guidance.

The role supports travel for meetings and conferences in the Americas. You’ll join a cross-functional team, with a focus on collaboration, learning, and delivering consistent results in a hybrid office

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Life & Health Underwriting experience with risk selection and case management.
• FLMI and/or FALU designation, or active progress toward earning one.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking for medical, financial and non-medical risk factors.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled underwriting tools and process innovations.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building with clients and stakeholders.
• Strong time management and organizational skills for high-volume workload.

Responsibilities

• Apply evidence-based risk selection across medical, non-medical, financial, product, market and governance considerations.
• Escalate complex matters and apply guidelines in a commercially sound way.
• Provide underwriting expertise for projects and respond to inquiries by phone and email within service standards.
• Promote Life Guide and stay current with updates to apply guidance effectively.
• Participate in client underwriting seminars, webinars, and thought leadership discussions to strengthen relationships.
• Engage in internal training programs and knowledge sharing to support continuous learning.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of core insurance products, legislation, taxation and underwriting tools.
• Travel as needed (approx. 10% or less) for internal meetings and client engagements.
