Swiss Re seeks a sharp, curious Life & Health underwriter to join our U.S. underwriting team.

You will apply evidence-based risk selection across medical, financial, and governance considerations, collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams, and contribute to ongoing learning and industry leadership. You will promote Life Guide, participate in client seminars, and stay current on insurance products, legislation, and AI-enabled tools.

Qualifications

• 5+ years Life & Health underwriting experience with risk selection and case management.
• FLMI and/or FALU designation, or active progress toward earning one.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking to assess medical/financial risk.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled underwriting tools and digital resources.
• Excellent communication and conflict resolution with clients and stakeholders.
• Effective time management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Apply evidence-based risk selection across medical, non-medical, financial, product, and governance considerations.
• Escalate complex matters and apply guidelines in a commercially sound way.
• Provide underwriting expertise for projects via phone and email within service standards.
• Promote Life Guide and stay current on updates and guidance.
• Participate in client seminars, webinars, and industry engagement to strengthen relationships.
• Attend internal training programs and maintain up-to-date knowledge of products and tools.
• Travel as needed (≤10%) for internal meetings and client engagements.
