Job summary

Swiss Re is seeking a sharp Life & Health underwriter to join our U.S. underwriting team. You will assess medical, financial, product, and governance risk, delivering evidence-based decisions for clients while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

This role offers a hybrid work model with travel to Swiss Re offices in the Americas and client locations. 5+ years of L&H underwriting experience and AI-enabled tools familiarity are preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years Life & Health underwriting experience in insurance or reinsurance.
• FLMI and/or FALU designation, or active progress toward earning one.
• Strong analytical and communication skills for client relationships.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled underwriting tools and digital resources.
• Ability to manage a high-volume workload with independence and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Apply evidence-based risk selection across medical, financial, product, and governance factors.
• Escalate complex matters and apply guidelines in a commercially sound way.
• Provide underwriting expertise for projects via phone and email within service standards.
• Promote Life Guide and stay current on updates to guide clients.
• Participate in client seminars, webinars, and industry engagement activities.
• Attend internal training and maintain knowledge of products, legislation, and tools.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of underwriting principles and AI-enabled capabilities.
• Travel as needed for internal meetings and client engagements (≈10% or less).
