Job summary

Swiss Re is seeking a sharp Life & Health underwriter for U.S. markets, applying evidence-based risk selection with clients and cross-functional teams. The role emphasizes partnership, continuous learning, and adherence to underwriting guidelines.

The candidate will work across medical, financial, and non-medical risk factors, grow expertise with Life Guide, and participate in seminars and thought leadership discussions. Hybrid work is available; exceptional remote work may be considered.

Qualifications

• 5+ years Life & Health underwriting experience.
• FLMI and/or FALU designation, or active progress toward earning one.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking with ability to assess complex risk factors.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled underwriting tools and digital resources.

Responsibilities

• Apply disciplined, evidence-based risk selection across medical, financial, product, and governance considerations.
• Escalate complex or unusual matters and apply guidelines in a commercially sound way.
• Partner with clients and cross-functional teams to provide underwriting expertise via phone and email.
• Promote Life Guide and stay current on updates.
• Participate in client seminars, webinars, and industry discussions to strengthen relationships and presence.
