Job summary

The Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing (DIAL) seeks temporary licensing specialists to join the Professional Licensing Division at the Des Moines central office. You will handle licensure inquiries, review applications, process fees, and maintain electronic records in a fast-paced regulatory environment.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time work experience in general office, clerical, data entry/processing, or related work.
• Two years of education and/or full-time experience with thirty semester hours equaling one year of experience.
• Experience in the state executive branch with Administrative Support Assistant roles may qualify.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with applicants by phone, email, and written correspondence to guide on licensure requirements.
• Review licensure applications for completeness and compliance with rules.
• Enter and maintain records in electronic licensing systems and databases.
• Process licensure fees, issue licenses and certificates, and handle confidential docs.
• Advise applicants on procedures and identify missing information or errors.
• Respond to a high volume of inquiries regarding licensure, relocation, or continuing education requirements.
• Assist with license verification, public records requests, and board meetings when needed.
• Collaborate with team members to support licensing operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
