Job summary

The Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, & Licensing (DIAL) Health Bureau is seeking a Unit Manager for the Adult & Special Services Unit based in Des Moines. You will oversee certification and licensure of various care facilities and programs, ensure compliance with federal and state standards, and supervise staff carrying out certification activities.

The role requires leadership of 16 staff, travel across the state, and collaboration with agency leadership.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate state and federal survey processes for certification, complaint and inspection activities to ensure compliance with applicable rules and standards.
• Lead and develop assigned personnel through recruitment, onboarding, and training on investigative methods and performance management.
• Maintain survey databases and analyze data to deliver clear reports and briefings to agency leadership, legislative bodies, federal partners, and the public.
• Oversee complaint triage and investigation procedures to ensure proper evidence gathering and address non-routine findings.
