Job summary

VisionWorks is seeking an Optical Associate to assist customers with frame and lens selection, interpret prescriptions, and provide informed recommendations on eyewear and related services. The role emphasizes accurate pricing, compliant insurance handling, and maintaining a clean dispensing area.

The position requires state licensure for ophthalmic dispensing and adherence to privacy rules (HIPAA). Training and ongoing education are expected as part of the job.

Qualifications

• Must have and maintain applicable state licensure for ophthalmic dispensing.
• Ability to explain optical products, services, and analysis of prescriptions.
• Experience with Third Party insurance benefits and billing procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with frame and lens selection.
• Ensure compliance with social distancing and hygiene protocols.
• Provide accurate product information on frames, lenses and services.
• Explain insurance benefits and any charges not covered by plans.
• Use SERVE sales process to identify needs and recommend lenses.
• Interpret prescriptions and coordinate with Lab/Optometrist for accuracy.
• Fit, sell and dispense frames and accessories, verifying pricing.
• Keep dispensing area clean and organized.
• Maintain license requirements per State Guidelines.
• Train apprentices where applicable.
• Adhere to HIPAA and privacy policies.
• Participate in training and professional development activities.
