Job summary

Cincinnati and Hamilton County Public Library is seeking a part-time Library Customer Adviser at the Anderson Branch. The role provides direct patron services, including circulation, reference, technology assistance, and guidance within a welcoming environment.

Responsibilities include desk coverage, assisting with programs and displays, shelving, and processing fees, with a focus on accurate service and community access. Evening and weekend shifts are required.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience preferred, able to assist diverse patrons.
• Ability to organize materials alphabetically and numerically.
• Comfort with using library technology and digital resources.
• Experience assisting customers with questions and direction.

Responsibilities

• Circulate materials, check in/out, process holds, register patrons, collect fees.
• Assist customers with technology and digital services.
• Shelve returned materials and manage materials flow.
• Search for requested items; perform readers’ advisory and reference tasks.
• Participate in desk coverage, bookdrop, deliveries, ILS reports, orders, and interagency requests.
• Assist with collection maintenance, weeding, and shelf order.
• Support programs, displays, and meeting room approvals.
• Refer issues to supervisors; handle money from fees.
• Serve as in-charge in leadership absence when needed.
• Explain library policies clearly to the public.
• Support the library’s mission to connect people with ideas and information.
