Job summary

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to sort and shelve materials accurately.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push heavy carts.

Responsibilities

• Sorts and shelves books, magazines, pamphlets, audiovisual materials, and other library materials.
• Assists with directional and simple reference questions.
• Retrieves materials for customer holds and processes requests from other departments.
• Assists with merchandising.
• Reads shelves according to schedule for accurate order of materials.
• Shifts and straightens materials as necessary.
• Searches for misplaced or lost materials.
• Assists with weeding, as assigned.
• Pulls materials requiring mending or binding.
• Assists with training for new Branch Shelvers.
• Assists with processing donations.
• Supports and advances the Library’s mission of connecting people with the world of ideas and information.
• Embraces and embodies the Library’s core beliefs, strategic priorities and pillars of excellence.
