Job summary

Southern Boone County Public Library in Ashland, MO seeks a lead staff member to supervise daily operations, mentor colleagues, and coordinate programs with the Branch Manager. The role emphasizes top-tier customer service and policy interpretation while protecting the facility and resources.

With a Monday–Friday schedule (9am–6pm), the position requires supervision of circulation, reference services, budgeting input, and staff scheduling, in collaboration with library leadership.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Branch Manager with lead functions, including hiring, orientation and training.
• Build relationships with the public and staff to provide library services.
• Circulation: check in/out materials and update patron files.
• Provide reference/information services using print materials, databases, or other reputable sources.
• Assist patrons in locating materials and using library resources.
• Assist with money handling and daily deposits.
• Lead and mentor staff to deliver quality customer service.
• Coordinate and assist in planning programs; may present programs.
• Prepare department reports and forms as needed.
