Job summary

Kansas City, Kansas Public Library (KCKPL) seeks an Adult Services Supervisor to overse e adult services staff at the assigned branch. The role reports to the Branch Manager, collaborates with Youth Services, and coordinates daily operations, programming, and outreach to meet community needs.

The position requires MLS or MLS progression, strong supervision and communication skills, and the ability to work evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

MLS degree, or current enrollment in an MLS program with anticipated completion within one year of hire.
Minimum of two years of progressive library experience preferred.
Strong understanding of library services, values, and operations.
Ability to supervise, support, and motivate staff effectively.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day department operations and ensure high-quality customer service.
Plan, schedule, and assign work to meet department and library goals.
Hire, supervise, and set performance expectations for department staff.
Provide ongoing training, support, and motivation for employee growth and development.
Review and adjust workflow and procedures to improve departmental efficiency.
Lead the branch programming plan and ensure implementation of community-relevant programs.
Represent the library in the community and build relationships with local agencies and organizations.
