Job summary

IonQ is seeking a Lead, Talent Development to join the People team. You will own how people grow end to end—diagnosing capability gaps, designing development experiences, and collecting data to support decisions.

You’ll work at the intersection of strategy and execution with managers, technical experts, AI, and vendors. Ideal candidates ship a version-one program in weeks, thrive in ambiguity, and want to build the playbook rather than follow someone else.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and shipping talent development programs in high-growth tech.
• AI-enabled learning design experience beyond basic usage.
• Good judgment on buy/build/do nothing with concrete examples.
• Exceptional facilitation with senior leaders and technical audiences.
• Experience operating as a function of one with clear prioritization.
• Strong consultative and influencing skills with senior sponsors.
• Ability to define meaningful development KPIs and link outcomes to business impact.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Own IonQ’s talent development strategy in partnership with People Business Partners and leaders.
• Architect and ship end-to-end development experiences from design to measurement.
• Build IonQ’s leadership bench and development pathways for managers, leaders, and high‑potential talent.
• Develop paths for deep technical experts including scientists and engineers moving into management.
• Embed AI into coaching, personalized development paths, and manager tools.
• Scale the enablement ecosystem; manage vendor portfolio and learning budget.
• Define a measurement framework and translate results into actionable leadership insights.
