Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer to lead design efforts for high-voltage substations and mentor junior engineers. You will develop protective relaying schemes, control philosophies, and engineering calculations while ensuring code compliance and project quality.

Remote work is possible from within the United States with preference for hybrid schedules near listed office locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 7–10 years of experience in Substation Protection & Control design engineering.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent document management and organization skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work with clients and teams.

Responsibilities

• Design substation protection and control systems per codes and client standards; deliver one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and SCADA interfaces.
• Develop relay protection schemes, settings criteria, and control philosophies for transmission and distribution substations.
• Prepare equipment and material specifications, design scope, and cost estimates for procurement.
• Create conceptual protection and control layouts for new and existing facilities; support procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, vendors, and clients to ensure project success and issue resolution.
• Lead client meetings and site visits; mentor junior engineers and ensure QA/QC compliance.
