Job summary

Arcadis is seeking a Principal Substation Electrical Engineer to lead hands-on substation design and studies for utility and developer clients in North America. You will coordinate the Power Delivery & Renewables team, manage projects, and drive technical excellence and client engagement.

The role requires a PE license, 12+ years of experience in AIS/GIS substations, and proficiency with SKM, ETAP, and related software. Travel up to 20% may be required; a master’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in substation design, layouts, bus configurations, and HV/EHV projects.
• PE License and proficiency with NEC/IEEE codes required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Substation Electrical team within PD&R.
• Coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines to deliver complete design packages.
• Act as Project/Proposal/Program/Account Manager and Technical Lead for client work.
• Mentor junior engineers and ensure QA/QC of engineering deliverables.
• Drive business development and project execution for the region.
