Job summary

Arcadis is seeking a Principal Substation Electrical Engineer to lead a PD&R team, perform hands-on substation engineering, and manage complex utility projects across North America. You will coordinate with multi-discipline groups, supervise QA/QC, and drive business growth while maintaining design compliance with NEC/IEEE standards.

The role requires a PE license, 12+ years of experience, and strong communication skills for client interaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 12+ years of substations design experience (AIS/GIS) for utility, developer or large facilities.
• PE license and knowledge of NEC, IEEE, and local codes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Substation Electrical team and coordinate with PD&R leadership.
• Deliver utility and client projects from concept through construction support.
• Coordinate with civil, protection & control, and system planning teams for complete packages.
• Act as Project/Proposal/Program/Account Manager and Technical Lead for growth.
• Mentor junior engineers and perform QA/QC on electrical work.
• Travel up to 20% to client sites in North America and abroad.
