Job summary

Arcadis in Houston is seeking a Senior Substation Electrical Engineer to join the Power Delivery team. You will undertake hands-on substation design and studies for utility and developer projects ranging from 4kV to 500kV, coordinating with civil, electrical, and other engineering disciplines to deliver complete construction packages.

The position requires excellent client engagement, travel up to 25%, and a track record of delivering quality, code-compliant designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant Substation experience from 4kV up to 500kV.
• Experience with substation physical layouts, section elevations, bus configurations, cable and conduit sizing, grounding, control building, lighting & lightning, and all aspects of HV and EHV substation engineering & design and studies.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and SKM/ETAP, CDEGS/WinIGS, other engineering software to complete substation design.
• Design experience adhering to National Electrical Code, National Electric Safety Code, IEEE codes and standards, and county, city and state codes, ordinances and standards

Responsibilities

• Responsible for engineering, detail design, studies and delivery of substation physical electrical projects on transmission and distribution substations at voltages from 4kV to 500kV with quality, schedule, and safe design in mind
• Independently perform engineering and detail design drawings, studies and analysis, prepare bidding documents and specifications, bills of materials, shop drawing review, procurement and construction documents
• Lead and participate in the preparation of project estimates, engineering estimates and proposals, and client engagement and business development activities
• Coordinate closely with civil, structural, high-voltage P&C electrical, telecommunications, geotechnical engineers to develop complete Issue for Construction design packages for projects
• Act as Project Manager, Proposal Manager and Technical Lead to support services and plan, develop, and grow power delivery client's goal and business growth for the region
• Serve as a mentor to junior members of the team. Conduct quality assurance/quality control on the work of other electrical engineers, electrical designers, or technicians. Participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and vendors to support business development and project execution.
