Job summary

WSP is seeking a Lead Renewable Energy Electrical Engineer for our Houston, TX office. This role also considers candidates in Boulder, CO, Buffalo, NY, and Austin, TX, joining a national Renewable Energy team.

Responsibilities include high-level design, due diligence, permitting, and construction of utility-scale projects, with emphasis on substations, power distribution, protection and control systems, and compliance with IEEE, NESC, and NERC standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Engineer license required.
• Strong knowledge of infrastructure design.
• Experience with electrical construction codes and regulations.
• Proficient with design software and electrical CAD tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level guidance for design, due diligence, permitting, and construction of utility and renewable energy projects.
• Coordinate and approve electrical infrastructure design plans for smaller and less-complex projects.
• Apply advanced electrical engineering techniques across concept, preliminary, final design, procurement, construction, and operation.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations explaining findings and recommendations.
• Oversee cross-functional teams, budgets, hours, and QA/QC to meet safety and regulatory standards.
• Maintain regulatory compliance and stay current with industry standards (IEEE, NESC, NERC).
