Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a seasoned Lead Software Engineer to architect and deliver foundational services for real-time recommendations. You will own the State Machine and Transactional Outbox, ensuring exactly-once emission and auditable, scalable outcomes.

This hands-on leadership role spans design, coding, and mentoring across platform, data, and product teams. The role emphasizes automated testing, observability, reliability engineering, and production readiness across a distributed stack

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 8+ years of full stack software engineering, with leadership exp.
• Experience with Java, Python, Node.js, or TypeScript.
• Automated testing frameworks experience (unit/integration/End-to-End).
• Strong observability: logging, metrics, tracing, alerting.
• Reliability patterns: fault tolerance, retries, resilience, recovery.
• Lead a small pod and manage contractors while contributing code.
• Cloud-native apps on Kubernetes and container platforms.

Responsibilities

• Own platform scale, reliability, and quality across NBA platform.
• Ensure uptime, performance, resilience, and operational excellence.
• Build automated testing and observability tooling; drive quality standards.
• Contribute production code and platform infrastructure improvements.
• Define release readiness criteria and operational quality gates.
• Mentor engineers and contractors; conduct code reviews; uphold standards.
• Collaborate with decisioning, orchestration, activation, platform, and data teams.
