Job summary

Humana Inc. seeks a seasoned Lead Software Engineer to architect and deliver foundational services enabling real-time recommendations. You will own the design of the State Machine and Transactional Outbox, ensuring exactly-once emission, auditability, and high performance under concurrency.

You will lead in a hands-on capacity, writing code, mentoring engineers, and collaborating across platform, data, and product teams to ensure production-ready, observable services at enterprise scale.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of full stack software engineering experience.
• 1–2 years leading platform reliability, quality engineering, site reliability, or production operations initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery for the platform scale and reliability pod, including planning, execution, quality, and operational readiness across the NBA platform.
• Own uptime, performance, resilience, and operational excellence across platform services; identify bottlenecks before incidents.
• Build and maintain automated testing frameworks: unit, integration, E2E, regression, and performance testing.
• Contribute production code; build reliability tooling, test automation, observability capabilities, and platform infra improvements.
• Own logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, and monitoring strategy; provide deep visibility across environments.
• Define and enforce patterns for exception handling, fault tolerance, recovery, and diagnostics.
• Lead initiatives to improve performance, throughput, reliability, and cost efficiency as engagement grows.
• Define and enforce release readiness criteria and operational gates for production ownership.
• Manage and mentor engineers and contractors; conduct code reviews and uphold standards.
• Partner with decisioning, orchestration, activation, platform and data teams to address production concerns.
